This Week at a Glance

Investment opportunities, smarter government services, workforce activity and key changes shaping business in Dubai and the UAE.

Dubai Real Estate Goes Smarter with AI

Dubai Land Department (DLD) has launched its new Initial Registration platform, creating a more integrated digital system for real estate developers and bringing project registration, property transactions and escrow account management together in one platform.

The system uses artificial intelligence to read Emirates IDs, passports and sales contracts, extract relevant information and automatically populate required fields. Standard transactions that meet the required conditions may also qualify for approval upon submission, helping reduce manual processing and repeated follow-ups.

The platform also introduces Project 360, providing developers with a consolidated view of project information, units, escrow accounts, financial data and registration records, together with early alerts where action may be required.

→ What This Means for Investors & Developers

For entrepreneurs, the direction is clear: Dubai is moving toward a more integrated business journey where company formation, government records and essential operational services increasingly work together.

Choosing the correct jurisdiction, activity, legal structure and licensing route from the beginning remains important, particularly for businesses planning future visas, banking, expansion or amendments.

Dubai Opens the Door to New Investment Opportunities

September is shaping up as a major business and investment month for Dubai, with 14 flagship exhibitions and conferences scheduled at Dubai World Trade Centre across investment, property, technology, finance, energy, travel and other sectors.

Of particular interest this week, AIM Congress and the International Property Show run from 7–9 September, bringing investors, entrepreneurs, developers, government representatives and international businesses together in Dubai.

Beyond attending an exhibition, these events create opportunities for businesses to meet potential investors, identify partners, explore new markets, understand emerging sectors and establish commercial relationships.

→ Where the Opportunity Is

For entrepreneurs already operating in the UAE — or international businesses considering entering Dubai — major events can be an effective way to test the market and build connections before making an expansion decision.

Employment Visas Drive Dubai Business Activity

Dubai’s Department of Planning and Development – Trakhees completed 22,823 customer transactions during the first half of 2026, reflecting continued business and workforce activity across Dubai’s special development zones.

Employment visas were the largest category, accounting for 11,603 transactions — around 51% of the total. Another 7,923 transactions covered services including labour disputes, NOCs, services for non-sponsored individuals and occupational health cards, while 1,271 establishment card transactions were also completed.

Trakhees serves special development zones including International City, Palm Jumeirah, The World Islands, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Maritime City, Al Jaddaf and Jebel Ali Village.

→ What Businesses Should Know

The figures provide a useful indication of the scale of hiring and business activity taking place across these areas. Companies expanding their workforce should ensure their establishment cards, immigration records, employee visas and supporting company documents remain properly maintained.

Dubai Prepares 14,000+ Companies for the AI Economy

Dubai Chambers has launched specialised Agentic AI training tracks aimed at more than 14,000 companies represented through its Business Groups and Business Councils.

The programme is designed to help Dubai’s private sector understand and adopt agentic AI — systems capable of performing more complex tasks and workflows with greater autonomy. The initiative focuses on practical business applications that can improve productivity, decision-making and competitiveness.

For Dubai companies, the significance extends beyond technology businesses. AI adoption is increasingly affecting professional services, retail, logistics, finance, real estate, customer service and other traditional industries.

→ Where Businesses Can Benefit

Businesses that adopt useful AI applications early may gain advantages in efficiency and scalability. For entrepreneurs considering a new UAE venture, it also points toward growing opportunities in AI implementation, automation, consulting, software and supporting business services.

UAE Tightens Rules for Traders and Suppliers

The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has outlined strengthened procedures under the Executive Regulations of the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, introducing important responsibilities for suppliers and businesses dealing in goods.

Once officially notified that goods are counterfeit, adulterated, spoiled or otherwise non-compliant, a supplier must stop selling or displaying them and withdraw the affected goods from markets and warehouses within 24 hours.

The requirements are particularly relevant to general trading companies, importers, distributors, retailers and e-commerce businesses, where maintaining reliable supplier and product documentation is increasingly important.

→ What Traders Should Do

Trading businesses should maintain proper invoices, supplier records, product information and authenticity documentation and have a procedure for responding quickly to an official withdrawal notice.

For companies entering UAE trading activities, regulatory compliance should therefore be considered from the setup and sourcing stage, not only after products reach the market.

UAE Business Growth Gains Momentum

The UAE’s non-oil private sector recorded a significant improvement in business conditions during August, with the S&P Global UAE Purchasing Managers’ Index rising to 55.3 from 52.7 in July.

The improvement was supported by stronger output and new business, with activity reaching its strongest pace since December 2024. A PMI above 50 generally indicates expansion in private-sector business conditions.

For entrepreneurs, the figures provide a broader indication of the underlying commercial environment in which UAE companies are operating.

→ What This Signals for Business

Stronger new-business activity and private-sector expansion can translate into opportunities for new company formation, market entry, partnerships, additional activities and expansion by existing businesses.

It is broader economic news, but it provides useful context: the UAE’s non-oil business economy continues to expand while Dubai simultaneously develops new infrastructure and services for investors.
